Carbon dioxide is a co-product from production in BioOperations. Under normal conditions it is a colorless gas with no aromatic characteristics.
Carbon dioxide, known as food additive E290, has been used in the food industry and in other areas of human life.
CO2 is captured, purified and liquefied for shipping to use in the following fields:
• Manufacture of carbonated and soft drinks, beer.
• Food additive E290 - baking powder for dough while baking confectionery
• Use as a shielding gas in the transport and storage of foodstuffs
• Application in cylinders of fire extinguishers
• Use as an inert atmosphere in welding work
• In pneumatic weapons
• Used in solid form as a refrigerant in freezers (dry ice)
